Best Luxury Boats: With most of the worlds rich-list taking to the waves in something more extravagant than the Cross-Channel Ferry, we wanted to take a look at some of our favourite luxury boats that the rich and famous use to get around the globe.
This list includes all sorts of luxury boats that we love for different reasons. Some for their stylish, sleek looks while at anchor, and others for what luxuries they offer their onboard guests. So let’s take a deep dive into six of the best luxury boats currently cruising the seas.
This remarkable megayacht was ten-years in development and had initial input from both Blohm + Voss and Lurssen shipyards until her build was halted until 2001. Platinum Yachts then took over completing the build. Now priced at $350 million, Dubai is 162m long and has a spectacular circular staircase that features glass steps, which change colour.
While the Lady Moura can be considered a grand-dame at 21 years old, she still carries a hefty price tag of $210 million. Even her name is dripping in gold – literally! Her name and escutcheon are picked out in 24-carat gold. She has a garage housing a Boston Whaler, Ski Nautic boat, Venetian Taxi and a Sikorsky helicopter. In her time she has hosted several notable personalities, including George H. W. Bush and his wife Barbara.
Originally built by Lurssen in 2003, this beautiful 115m long vessel is operated by 46 crew and has had a few notable updates over the years, including a 2007 refit by Blohm + Voss shipyard, which saw the addition of a second helicopter pad, and a major refit by Kusch Yachts in 2018. This mega yacht also has a large pool, Jacuzzi, and holds plenty of sea toys and tender on board.
Currently one of the most expensive luxury boats at sea, she cost over $800 million to commission. Delivered to Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich, in 2010, guests can relax in the most opulent of surroundings. She comes with two swimming pools, a large dance hall and a master suite with an opening roof. The two helicopter pads make it easy for hopping ashore and back again.
The Octopus is a 414-foot (126 m) megayacht that holds two helicopters, and a pair of submersibles, seven tenders and jet skis for those who love messing around at sea. An explorer yacht of notable status, the interior was designed by Jonathan Quinn Barnett of Seattle. She includes a cinema, gym, spa, observation lounge and basketball court on the deck below, as well as a glass-bottomed underwater observation lounge and a bridge deck with a pool and pizza oven.
With her name referring to her length of 108 feet (33 metres) she is the smallest on our list, yet is one of the fastest boats on our list with a top speed of 34 knots. With a modified ramp to take a car on board, you would never need to hire a car when visiting far off lands! Toys onboard include a Nautica 5.5 m Tender, a Sea-Doo RXP 255, a Banana, Windsurfing board, water skies, a skiboard, and Diving equipment. On deck, you can find a LINN Music System and a Jacuzzi on the forward deck. She was also featured in Casino Royale, the James Bond feature film.
