Leading Dutch shipbuilders Feadship is high on the list of world-renowned superyacht builders, so when there is talk of a new concept being released by them, you know you are in for something special!

Not only does Mega-yacht fan love hearing about a new superyacht concept design, but we love it, even more, when we know the design is going to be completely buildable, and this is what you get from Superyacht builders Feadship – something amazing that is completely do-able.

Currently named the Eco-Explorer, the concept is yet a little lacking in interior features because this will be left up to the new owner to decide upon. However, the exterior is something that will definitely turn heads with its stunning design and sleek lines.

The Eco-Explorer hull very much sets the tone for the overall shape of the yacht with its classic sloop shaped nose that quickly evolves into something more akin to a full-beam yacht.

Superyacht builders eco-friendly design elements

It is not called the Eco-Explorer for nothing, with plenty of eco-friendly options for the new owner to incorporate, for example, there are a series of tubes around the vessel that help direct airflow more efficiently, which also act to ventilate the yacht interior.

The concept yacht features several photovoltaic panels carefully placed to capture sunlight and convert it to electrical energy to power generators and lighting and even possible back-up systems. You also cannot fail to notice the sails, which are actually two giant wings that act as computer-guided sails that find the most efficient placement to use the wind.

This bold concept has been calculated to reduce the boats fossil fuel use by up to 70%, which would make this yacht one of the most efficient hybrids on the waters.

The CLX96 yacht concept

Another amazing yacht concept from superyacht builders Feadship that we like (because it is meant to be completely buildable) is the CLX96 yacht that is set to be unveiled in 2021 at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

The CL in the CL96 name means Cheoy Lee, one of the most well-respected yacht builders around, who teamed up with Milan-based Jozeph Forakis to complete the concept design.

We like this because everything you see on the concept plan can be built – today. When you realise that many concepts never make it off the drawing board at all, or those that do go into production need to have some major tweaking done to make it viable, we like to know that what you see is what you get!

CLX96 collaboration

In a new collaboration between CL Yachts and Forakis, the yacht concept comes in at nearly 97ft. (29.5m), but the shape of the vessel allows for a good many features to be included.

To keep the finished yacht light-weight and nimble on the water, every material used in its construction has been carefully measured. There is a clever mix of fibreglass, carbon fibre, and lightweight foams to give the yacht plenty of flexibility and rigidity, but with less weight. Even the furniture and finishings to be used have been carefully weight-optimized.

Superyacht Builder Jozeph Forakis has applied his considerable design knowledge to utilise all the available interior space to include plenty of high-end perks to rival any superyacht. There is even an extendable platform at the rear of the boat that can be used for a bit of intimate sunbathing for two.
